Quality Assurance Lead for Elemental Data Title: Quality Assurance Lead for Elemental Data, Montreal Location: Montreal, QC General description: EDG has an open position for an intermediate level Quality Assurance Professional. The role involves working closely with the business analysts and developers to understand business requirements and technical structure. The ideal candidate should be experienced with various standard test methodologies, able to quickly acquire business and technical knowledge to come up with robust test cases, and work against aggressive timelines. The candidate will be required to define test strategies and test cases covering all aspect of functional, regression, and performance testing, and execute test cases independently or collaborate with other QA members in test execution. This will involve the rapid, programmatic creation and manipulation of test data, test execution and data validation in a primarily Unix/Linux environment. This candidate will also be expected to design, write and maintain backend automation scripts for testing. The successful candidate will recommend and influence changes to developers to further improve software quality. Specific Responsibilities: • Work closely with the project team to fully understand the business and system requirements of applications. • Design and document a strategic test plan to cover specified requirements. • Design and document sufficient test cases to cover specified requirements. • Design and programmatically create any test data needed to execute the specified test cases. • Prioritize and oversee the delivery and execution of comprehensive testing suites for all components of project, including functional, regression, and performance testing. • Compile, analyze, and report test results and test metrics to the project team and EDG Test Services management. • Communicate effectively and proactively with the business team, developers and EDG Test Services management to resolve issues and follow-up on progress • Abide by best practices in testing activities and test automation with regard to version control, test data, and functions. • Participate in EDG-wide testing best practice sharing and process improvement initiatives. Skills Required: Skills Required: • 5+ years working in or leading a hands-on testing team • Experience in relational databases (Sybase) and Solaris/Linux operating systems • Ability to write complex SQL queries • Accomplished practitioner with Unix command line and various Unix shells • Self-motivated team player with ability to prioritize and multitask • Experience in practical application of testing methodology, including test case writing, coverage tracking and requirements interpretation • Experience working with industry-standard testing tools such as Quality Center, Quick Test Pro, and LoadRunner • Experience in Software Development Life Cycle methodologies • Excellent written and verbal communications skills Skills Desired: Skills Desired: • Understanding of XML and SOAP • Experience working as part of a global team • Computer Science or Engineering (BSc, BEng, etc) degree preferred Years of Experiance: 5-10 Education Level: Bachelor's Degree
